Retail theft in Walnut Creek Apple Store; 5 arrested

LOS GATOS, Calif. (KRON) – Five people were arrested without incident Saturday in connection with an organized retail robbery in Walnut Creek, the Los Gatos Police Department said in a news release. The theft took place that morning at the Walnut Creek Apple Store located at 1200 S Main St.

After the suspects left the store with the stolen merchandise, officers received a description of the car and the license plate of a red 2014 KIA sedan. Next, Los Gatos police found the suspicious car, which had two suspects inside, on the 15000 block of Los Gatos Boulevard during a police stop.

Officers searched the vehicle and found two loaded firearms, including an illegally manufactured one, also known as the “ghost gun”. The two occupants of the car were arrested for their involvement in the theft and illegal possession of firearms, the statement said.

As the investigation continued, officers determined that three other suspects were linked to the Apple Store robbery: two minors and an adult male. They were associated with a gold Chevrolet sedan and in possession of stolen Apple products from the Walnut Creek store.

A total of five suspects have been arrested and Los Gatos police are working with the Walnut Creek Police Department to recover the stolen merchandise, according to the statement. Two suspects have not been identified due to their juvenile status.
