Falls Township police said they believe a serial thief was hitting stores in the area.

On Monday evening, police said the suspect had taken cartons of cigarettes from local retailers four times in the past month. The latest retail theft occurred on Monday.

Police identified the suspect as Johsua Burden, 43, a white male with blue eyes. He is 6ft 1in and is wanted by the police.

Burden has ten active warrants for his arrest as of Monday night, police said.

Each time, he walks into the store, asks the cashier for two boxes of Newport cigarettes and then pretends to pay while the clerk prepares and packs the merchandise. He then grabs the bag and heads for a car parked elsewhere, police said.

“We are also encouraging local traders to be aware,” police said.

A dark green Jeep Liberty and, in the case of Monday’s incident, a green Honda CRV with temporary New Jersey registration and a shattered plastic-covered driver’s side window were both used by Burden, police said.

Anyone who sees Burden has been asked to call 9-1-1. Other information about Burden can be directed to Agent Ryan Murphy via email at [email protected] or anonymously at [email protected]
