Bay Area hardware stores brace for winter storm

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – While the weather was calm today, hardware stores remained busy across the region.

People are emptying the shelves of a North Bay store.

Jackson’s Hardware in San Rafael was out of rain gear.

Store manager Mark Helm shows us empty shelves on Saturday afternoon.

An atmospheric river, in this case, is infamously known as the “Pineapple Express”.

It is expected to bring widespread rains, gusty winds, dangerous beach and sea conditions from Sunday through Monday.

Cities like Santa Rosa expect it to rain up to six inches.

The city experienced flooding during the last powerful storm in October.

Maintenance like cleaning gutters, checking wipers and securing any loose exterior items.

Back in San Rafael, Jackson’s Hardware has already placed orders for next week, with another weaker system expected to arrive after the Atmospheric River.

Bay area residents are advised to ensure they have a flashlight with fresh batteries, food, and water.
