Apalachin woman dies after motorcycle hits tree in Owego

Authorities say a woman who was a passenger on a motorcycle died in an accident in Tioga County.

Investigators say Christine Mohr, 62, from Apalachin, was transported by helicopter to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre after the bicycle hit a tree in the town of Olowo. She was pronounced dead in hospital.

According to the sheriff’s office, Mohr was riding a motorbike driven by Philip Minckler, 57, from Owego.

The bike was heading north on the Montrose toll highway shortly after 5:30 p.m. Monday when it left the roadway and crashed into a tree.

Minckler was taken to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City. The nature of his injuries and his condition were not disclosed by the sheriff’s office.

Investigators did not indicate the cause of the accident.
